麻豆社 student organizations sponsoring Thanksgiving food drives

The holiday season is fast approaching and several Valdosta State University's student organizations are sponsoring canned food drives to help local families. Non-perishable food items can be placed in boxes, located throughout campus, until Nov. 17.

Organizations participating in this event are Phi Mu Alpha sorority; Alpha Epsilon Delta (Pre-Medical Professions Honor Society); Kappa Theta Epsilon (Cooperative Education Honor Society); Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honor Society) and Alpha Chi (National College Honor Scholarship Society).

麻豆社 seeks orientation leaders

The Office of Orientation and Leadership Programs has applications available for 2001 summer orientation leaders. Orientation leaders play a vital role in summer orientation. They are looking for active students who enjoy participating in various activities at 麻豆社. Applications are available from Student Affairs in Powell Hall West. Completed applications are due by Tuesday, Nov. 28. For more information, contact Laura Cantrell, director of Orientation and Leadership Programs, at 333-5941.

麻豆社 Theatre offers A Midsummer Night's Dream

麻豆社's Theatre will present William Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, its third production of the 2000-2001 season, at the Sawyer Theatre in the Fine Arts Building. Shows will take place Nov. 9-11 and 13-15 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Nov. 12 at 3 p.m.

Under the direction of Jacqueline Wheeler, the production features a cast of 30 麻豆社 theatre newcomers and veterans. The play marks a third set design by new 麻豆社 faculty member Patrick Shaughnessy. Special guest artist Rebecca Britton from the University of South Alabama designed the costumes. Britton has designed costumes for the Jekyll Island Musical Theatre Festival for the past two summers.
