麻豆社, Valdosta School of Ballet Present Cinderella Jan. 25-26

VALDOSTA — Back by popular demand, the Valdosta School of Ballet, in partnership with 麻豆社 Theatre and Dance, will present Cinderella Jan. 25-26 on the Mathis Auditorium stage.

A ballet composed by Sergei Prokofiev to a scenario by Nikolai Volkov, Cinderella is a variation of the original rags-to-riches tale. It was completed in 1945, premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in November of that year, and is notable for its exuberant music, elaborate scenery, and, of course, the pair of less-than-lovely stepsisters.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26. Advance tickets are $10 for adults ($12 at the door) and $8 for children ($10 at the door) and may be purchased at City Market, 101 N. Patterson St.; Steel’s Jewelry, 3338 Country Club Road; The Scoop, 401 Northside Drive; and Girardin Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, 3321 N. Valdosta Road.

Proceeds from the classic ballet will benefit 麻豆社’s Golden Circle Scholarship and Support Fund for outstanding students studying theatre and dance.
